roots

Bridging gaps is part of our lives as camera assistants. These handles began life as solutions whittled for focus pullers who wanted more variation in how they held their handsets.

After years on set, it became obvious to me that there were just as many focus pullers who didn’t use the traditional rubber handle as those that did. So, during downtime on a long running feature, I started whittling some possible solutions out of scrap wood. The early handles were rudimentary but the feedback was good and I started receiving requests. It wasn’t realistic for me to make bespoke handles for everyone so instead I took what I had learned and created two handles that combined the two principles that were requested most; comfort and grip without adding size or weight.

I added a hard wood version of the traditional rubber handle to complete the set so hopefully there is something for everyone.
